As with all growing industries people find a way to scam you out of money. This is happening within the mystery shopping industry more than ever with more scammers conning people out of money for guides or books on how to become a mystery shopper, when all the information is available on the Internet anyway. It is also important to be aware of websites encouraging you to register and become a mystery shopper to earn vasts amounts of money. This more often than not is not the case.

A recent scam that was highlighted by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) was that scammers were mailing individuals with fake cheques and instructing them to cash the cheque at their bank to cover pay and expenses. The scammers then wanted people to carry out a mystery visit by sending a cheque to a fake relative! As you can probably guess the money that was being sent to Canada was being collected by the scammers.

Therefore, it is vital that you are made aware of these scams and do not fall for them!!
